King of the Hill star Stephen Root has confirmed he voices Brian Heder in GTA 6, a rare pre-launch cast reveal from a studio that almost never lets anything slip early.

Rockstar Games treats every GTA 6 detail like classified information, but this week one of its actors decided to spill some beans on his own. Stephen Root, the veteran actor behind some of King of the Hill's most memorable voices, confirmed during an Associated Press interview at the BAFTA TV Tea Party that he's in the game. His exact words: "You're gonna see me in there."

The character is Brian Heder, a grizzled smuggler who first showed up in GTA VI's second trailer back in May 2025. Per Rockstar's own description, Brian is a relic of "the golden age of smuggling" in the Keys, still moving product through his boatyard alongside his third wife, Lori, and more than willing to let protagonist Jason crash rent-free at one of his properties in exchange for a few favors that definitely aren't legal.

Honestly, fans had already pieced this together. Root's voice, instantly recognizable from characters like Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland, gave the game away almost as soon as that trailer dropped. As the actor himself admitted, "too many people know me and my voice," which pretty much blew his own cover before Rockstar was ready for it.

What's actually notable here isn't Brian Heder himself, it's that Rockstar let this kind of confirmation slip out at all. The studio is famously tight-lipped about casting and behind-the-scenes info until launch; usually you only find out who voiced who once the credits roll. An actor confirming his role in public, even offhandedly during an interview about a completely different project, counts as a leak for a publisher that basically never leaks anything.

In practical terms, this changes nothing for anyone planning to actually play the game — Brian was already a known face from the marketing material, this just puts an official voice to him. GTA 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026, exclusively for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch, with pre-loading opening on November 12.
